Rakuro Hizutome (陽務 楽郎 Hizutome Rakurō), best known for his nickname Sunraku (サンラク ), is the main character of the story.
Appearance[]
Sunraku is a lean, thin teenager of average height with blue eyes, and blue hair; the front half looks neat, and the back half is spiky.
The appearance of his avatar in S.L.F. is a half-naked, athletic young man wearing blue shorts with a belt, and his trademark blue bird headgear with a yellow beak; used as a way to cover up his face after selling all of his armor in the character creation menu for early financial advantage. After he was defeated by Lycagon, he was granted the Lycagon's Marking, a scar-like curse that appears on his torso and legs. The marking restricts the ability to 'equip' clothing and armour on the affected areas, forcing him to continue playing his character half-naked. Later, the curse is modified to allow clothing and armour to be equipped to the aforementioned area's, however this is only for a short set period of time.
Personality[]
Rakuro is affably relaxed and carefree in person. And he is receptive towards those around him such as letting his mother know that one of her pet butterflies has escaped before leaving for school. But Sunraku's most notable trait is his affinity towards Kusoge(Shit Game); games that are well-known for buggy states, unfair mechanics and awful AIs, thus require serious play skills to finish it. As Pencilgon stated during their fight with one of The Seven Collosi, Wezaemon the Tombguard in Chapter 36, "With Sunraku, the crappier the hand the game deals him, the more motivated he gets and the better he is as a player." He is well known by his friends as a Kusoge fanatic and lunatic. Thus, Rakuro displays his zeal discussing his endeavors of triumphs over bad mechanics and bugs.
Abilities[]
With his job as a Mercenary (Twin Blade User) (傭兵(二刀流使い) Yōhei (Nitōryū-tsukai)), Sunraku is able to use specific abilities as a skilled swordsman and dual wielder. He selected Wanderer as a role, has low defense growth but it's great for luck bonuses which critical rate and item drop are apparently dependent on the luck stat. After Sunraku levels up to level 99 he gets visited by a fortune-teller and gets the arcanum sub job The Fool.
While mostly using dual daggers in battles, Sunraku will apply using other types to give him an advantage in fights. Using Throwing Knife to perform range type combo moves since his character is mostly a melee combatant, though it is wasteful to spend money on disposing weapons it helps where it counts.
- Sub job “The Fool”: In exchange for halving the recasting time for skills, the damage and duration of debuffs taken, among others, are doubled, and the success rate of healing items becomes a probability.
