Maria Itsukushima (厳島 真里亜 Itsukushima Maria)[3] is a supporting character in the Shangri-La Frontier series. In SLF, she is known as Animalia (アニマリア Animaria)[1] and is the leader of the clan SF-Zoo. She takes an interest in Sunraku due to his access to the Vorpal Bunnies of Rabituza.[4]
Appearance[]
A lightly tanned female with messy medium length light-grey hair and purple color eyes. Wears a tan yellow sorcerer robe with a hoody, it's theme is gold, red and bright yellow line designs. Underneath the robe is a red sleeve skirt with a ring belt, tan black pants, two light-brown belt straps below the knee, yellow and white theme boots with furry covers above. Wears purple bandages wrapped around both wrist underneath the furry part of a turquoise color fingerless glove. On her hood are a pair of accessory small grey horns wrapped in bandages tied to the red band on top of the head. Carries a wooden staff with tied bandage designs, and at the top is fashion with a U and X shape style of bones.
Personality[]
She displays a unique love and fascination for monsters. Wanting to take photographic shots with them. And even hugging those that are cute and loving them up. And even when it comes to other players targeting cute little monsters she is fascinated with, she won't stand for it and intervene without fear.

Background[]
Maria is an animal lover who has had a severe allergy to various animals since childhood.[5] Throughout the years, she tried to interact with animals on many occasions and all of them had her end up hospitalized for long periods of time. All those times in confinement, she cried countlessly for the price she had to pay just to satisfy her desires.[3]
Abilities[]
Being the leader of SF-Zoo shows she is capable of leading a group and issuing commands. She was also able to fend off Arthur Pencilgon for a time to allow Sunraku time to escape into Thirdrema.
Her main job is Yin-Yang Master (陰陽大師 Onmyō Taishi) and her sub job is Sorcerer (魔術師 Majutsu-shi).[6] Her playstyle specializes in neutralizing targets rather than defeating them. She has mastery over various magic that inflicts debuffs and restricting her targets' actions, but her fighting power is rather low.[7] When it comes to taming animals, however, Animalia is second to none in the entire game.[8]
After reaching Level 99, she received the Arcanum "The Sun", which affects the strength of her magic and skills depending on the time of day:[9]
- From 6 am to 6 pm, her spells are boosted but her skills are weakened.
- From 6 pm to 6 am, her skills are boosted but her spells are weakened.

冥府の旅路は汝と共に Ferō Toraberā): With the skill Spell Memorize and 1 HP remaining, she can exchange her life to apply an instant death debuff on an opponent, a murder-suicide curse. When wielding a sinister staff, releases six purple energy streams from the six fingers to engulf the target opponent, creating a large explosion purple pillar stream destroying enemy and the user together.[10] - Hands of Tartarus (
鷲摑む冥府の腕 Hanzu Obu Tarutarosu): Inflicts an immobility ailment to any living target for one minute. The Underworld Keystaff must be equipped to use this spell.[11]

Her in-game name is a portmanteau of her real life name and the word animal, which represents her topic of interest.
